Rolls-Royce Delivers 100th Pearl 15 Engine

  • How long it took Rolls-Royce to hit this milestone
  • What the Senior VP of production at Rolls-Royce thinks of the milestone for the future of the company

Rolls-Royce Engines have delivered their 100th Peal 15 turbofan to Bombardier for the Global 5500. It took Rolls-Royce about three years to hit this milestone, which is extremely impressive. These engines were revealed in May 2018 and were known to have 10,000 to 20,000 pounds of thrust and were built around a new core with new high pressure compressors, advanced engine health monitoring, low emissions combustors, and two-stage shroudless high-pressure turbines. The Pearl 15 provides up to 9% more thrust during climb and improved efficiency at the same time.

Nuno Taborda, Senior Vice President of production for Rolls-Royce had to say this about hitting this milestone, “This engine delivery milestone is important for us—demonstrating the program’s maturity and confirming our confidence in the potential of the Pearl family. I would like to thank everyone at Bombardier for their continued close teamwork with us to make this aircraft and engine such a great success.” Rolls-Royce is developing the “Pearl 700” engine for Gulfstream G700s and the “Pearl 10X” for Dassault Falcon 10X aircrafts. We can expect to see Rolls-Royce hit more and more milestones as aircrafts look to use Rolls-Royce engines in the future.
