There are a variety of factors to consider when chartering a private jet, but safety should always be at the top of the list. With so many options available, it can be difficult to know which company to trust with your travel plans. That’s why it’s important to do your research and only book with a reputable operator.

The good news is that there are plenty of ways to gauge an operator’s safety record. One of the most important is to look at their safety rating. Here are a few things you should know about private jet charter safety ratings.

What Is a Safety Rating?

A safety rating is an assessment of an operator’s compliance with safety standards. These ratings are issued by independent organizations like ARG/US, WYVERN, and the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).

Ratings are typically based on factors like an operator’s maintenance program, flight crew training, and safety management system. They also take into account any incidents or accidents that have occurred.

ARGUS Platinum is the highest safety rating that can be awarded by ARGUS International. To achieve this rating, an operator must complete a comprehensive on-site audit and adhere to a strict set of safety standards.

WYVERN is another well-respected safety rating system. Their audits are conducted by retired pilots with years of experience in the industry. WYVERN Wingman rating is awarded to operators who meet or exceed all of the safety requirements in the WYVERN Standard. This is the highest level of certification that can be achieved.

The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) is a code of best practices developed by the IBAC. It’s designed to help operators improve their safety performance and establish a robust safety culture. Stage 3, the highest level of certification, is internationally recognized as the benchmark for excellence in business aviation.

What is a Private Jet Card?

  • Jet Cards Have a Minimum Purchase Requirement
  • Types of Aircraft Available Vary Depending On the Jet Card Provider

A jet card is a type of prepaid flight service that allows customers to purchase hours of private jet travel in advance. Typically, jet cardholders pay an upfront fee and then receive a set number of flight hours to use as they wish. Some programs also offer additional perks, such as access to exclusive airport lounges and concierge services.

Jet cards typically have a minimum purchase requirement, and the price per hour will vary depending on the type of aircraft you select.

While the types of aircraft available will vary depending on the jet card provider, most programs offer a selection of light (Embraer Phenom 300, Cessna Citation CJ1-CJ4), midsize (Cessna Citation XLS, Hawker Beechcraft 750, Gulfstream G150), and heavy jets (Dassault Falcon 7x, Gulfstream G650, Bombardier Global Express). Some providers also offer turboprop and piston-powered aircraft. When choosing a jet card, it’s important to consider the type of flying you’ll be doing most often and select a program that offers the appropriate aircraft.

Jet cards can be a convenient way to book private jet travel, but it’s important to compare different programs carefully to find the one that best fits your needs.

What Does It Mean to Book an Empty Leg?

  • The Key to Flying via Empty Legs is Time Flexibility
  • Be Aware of a Few Things Before You Book an Empty Leg

Photo: Instagram/ Cessna The Citation M2 Gen2

An empty leg, or “deadhead flight”, is a private jet flying without passengers on board. The aircraft is typically returning to its home base, or positioning itself for its next charter flight. Many times, private jet owners and operators will offer empty legs at a discount to generate business.

The key to flying via empty legs is having flexibility in your travel plans. The best way to find out about empty leg flights is to work with a reputable private jet charter company. A good charter broker will have a network of operators and owners that they work with, and they’ll be able to keep you updated on any available empty legs in your area of travel.

Flying on an empty leg can be a great way to save money on your private jet charter, but it’s important to be aware of a few things before you book. First, empty leg flights are often subject to change or cancellation at short notice. This is because the aircraft’s schedule is based on the needs of its passengers, and an empty leg flight may only be confirmed once all the other flights on the plane are full. Second, empty leg flights may not be able to take off or land at your preferred airport, as they are often bound by the same regulations as commercial airlines. Finally, empty leg prices may fluctuate based on market demand, so it’s important to book early to get the best price.

If you’re flexible with your travel plans and you’re looking to save money on your next private jet charter, booking an empty leg flight is a great option. Just be sure to work with a reputable charter broker and be aware of the potential risks involved.

How Far in Advance Should You Book a Private Jet?

  • Choose the Best Type of Aircraft for Yourself
  • Live Time to Compare Rates and Find the Best Deal

Photo: Instagram/ Pilot Mike Wagner

When planning a trip, it’s important to consider all of your options for transportation. For those who want to travel in style and comfort, a private jet charter may be the best option. Choosing the type of aircraft, like Gulfstream G650, Falcon 900LX, Challenger 350, HondaJet, or Citation X, is just the first step in planning your charter flight. The next step is deciding how far in advance to book your flight.

There are a few factors to consider when deciding how far in advance to book a private jet charter. The first is the availability of the aircraft you want to fly on. If you have your heart set on a specific type of jet, you’ll need to book your flight well in advance to ensure that the aircraft is available.

Another factor to consider is the price of the charter flight. Charter flights are priced based on a number of factors, including the date and time of the flight, the route, and the demand for the specific aircraft.

It’s generally best to book a private jet charter at least a few weeks in advance. This will give you time to compare rates and find the best deal. It also gives the charter company time to make any necessary arrangements for your trip.

However, it’s also important to be flexible with your travel plans. If you’re able to be flexible with your dates and times, you may be able to find a last-minute charter that’s even more affordable.

When it comes to booking a private jet charter, advance planning is key. By taking the time to compare rates and find the best deal, you can ensure that your trip is comfortable, convenient, and within your budget.
