Update: Challenger 605 Crash in Truckee, CA

  • New information on the investigation of the Challenger 605 that crashed into the Ponderosa Golf Course on Monday 7/26 in Truckee, CA

 

Currently, authorities are working with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to investigate the cause of the crash. The NTSB will likely have their preliminary report out within the next two weeks. The Truckee-Tahoe Airport has also canceled their airshow due to this incident.

The fatality count has now been raised to 6 victims (4 passengers and 2 crew). Originally, the count was 4 (2 crew and 2 passengers). All 6 of the victims have now been identified; the pilots Bret Ebaugh and Alberto Montero De Collado De La Rosa, Kevin Kvarnlov, John Dunn, Ryan Thomas, and Christine Thomas. Hideaway Properties has confirmed the deaths of Kvarnlov and the Thomases while Ebaugh’s wife disclosed her husband’s death over FaceBook. John Kenneth Dunn, co-founder of Rainier Capital Management was also a victim in the crash. This marks the second crash involving the Truckee-Tahoe airport within the past two months. With the airport being so close to residential neighborhoods and a golf course, accidents around this area are a clear and present danger to the surrounding area.
