Two men were arrested yesterday after rumors surfaced that they broke the city’s COVID rules. Both of the men were front staff of an airline, and there was “evidence showing they have violated [epidemic regulations].”
The two men were convicted of performing “unnecessary activities” during their isolation period at their respective dwellings.
They have been released on bail but could face up to 6 months in prison along with a fine of over $600.
Hong Kong has enacted a zero tolerance policy for COVID, much like China.
Since then, they have tightened their rules, measures, and policies to mitigate the spread of COVID, and are going to the extent of arresting people for breaking the rules.
