Ukraine officials today declared that the Antonov An-225, the world’s largest plane, has been destroyed amid the attacks from Russia
This plane was the heaviest and longest aircraft in the world. There was only one model of this plane and there was never a second one produced ever since the Soviet Union ceased to exist.
At a length of 275 feet, a height of almost 60 feet, and a wingspan of 290 feet, this aircraft was simply a one of a kind. Weighing 189 tons, this plane has flown a generator for a gas power plant with its large size.
Now, the plane is dismantled in it’s entirety as it was destroyed by the Russians in Kyiv. The plane had been sitting in the Airport since February, and was undergoing other repairs.
Dmtro Antonev, a known pilot for flying the plane, provided a quote on the situation. “The biggest plane in the world “Mriya” (The Dream) was destroyed by Russian occupants on an airfield near Kyiv. We will rebuild the plane. We will fulfill our dream of a strong, free, and democratic Ukraine.”
Although there are no remains left, there are plans in place to build the same plane again.
