There are a variety of factors to consider when chartering a private jet, but safety should always be at the top of the list. With so many options available, it can be difficult to know which company to trust with your travel plans. That’s why it’s important to do your research and only book with a reputable operator.

The good news is that there are plenty of ways to gauge an operator’s safety record. One of the most important is to look at their safety rating. Here are a few things you should know about private jet charter safety ratings.

What Is a Safety Rating?

A safety rating is an assessment of an operator’s compliance with safety standards. These ratings are issued by independent organizations like ARG/US, WYVERN, and the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).

Ratings are typically based on factors like an operator’s maintenance program, flight crew training, and safety management system. They also take into account any incidents or accidents that have occurred.

ARGUS Platinum is the highest safety rating that can be awarded by ARGUS International. To achieve this rating, an operator must complete a comprehensive on-site audit and adhere to a strict set of safety standards.

WYVERN is another well-respected safety rating system. Their audits are conducted by retired pilots with years of experience in the industry. WYVERN Wingman rating is awarded to operators who meet or exceed all of the safety requirements in the WYVERN Standard. This is the highest level of certification that can be achieved.

The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) is a code of best practices developed by the IBAC. It’s designed to help operators improve their safety performance and establish a robust safety culture. Stage 3, the highest level of certification, is internationally recognized as the benchmark for excellence in business aviation.
