- Taylor Swift’s Year-End Total Emissions Coming in at 8,293.54 Tonnes
- “Biggest Celebrity CO2e Polluter of This Year”
According to a study published by business consultancy Yard, Taylor Swift’s aircraft made 170 trips between January 1 and July 19.
Taylor’s flights are said to be the “biggest celebrity CO2e polluter of this year so far,” with her year-end total emissions coming in at 8,293.54 tonnes, or 1,184.8 times greater than the typical person’s yearly emissions. Swift’s shortest distance on her private jet was just 36 minutes, according to the study.
In response to the study, Swift issued a statement insisting that the jet had been “loaned” out to others. The comment was made to Rolling Stone: “Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals.”
Swift has always been vocal about her environmentalism. In 2015, she donated $50,000 to the World Wildlife Fund to help protect endangered species.
