The couple has been vocal about the need for individuals to change their lifestyles to reduce potentially negative environmental impacts.
This week, Prince Harry and Meghan flew to New York to attend the 2022 Ripple of Hope Awards Gala ceremony hosted by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization. They are being honored with an award for the Archewell Foundation‘s dedication to human rights and social issues.
Prince Harry has been outspoken about his dedication to fighting climate change and protecting the environment. In a 2018 speech, he said that “we cannot be complacent or simply hope that somebody else will take responsibility for solving the world’s environmental issues. We have to actively become part of the solution if we are to protect our planet for future generations.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also announced that they would use their social media platform to highlight climate change as a key social issue. The announcement also said people must take immediate and significant action to reduce their personal carbon footprints.
