- Tampa International Airport has its busiest day in history, accommodating around 90,300 passengers
- The previous record set in 2019 was surpassed when around 87,000 passengers
Tampa International Airport in Florida has broken its all-time record for the number of travelers accommodated in a single day. On Sunday, March 19, the airport experienced its busiest day in history with around 90,300 passengers traveling through TPA, according to officials. This surpasses the previous record set in 2019 when the airport saw approximately 87,000 passengers on its busiest day of spring break.
The surge in passenger numbers is likely due to the spring break season, as more people are starting to feel comfortable traveling again amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, compared to the same period in 2022, staff at Tampa International Airport saw about 3,000-5,000 more daily passengers.
