- Where the AirVenture convention is held
- What famous aircrafts have been debuted at the EAA AirVenture Convention
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is a growing organization with a wide range of interests in aviation. The EAAs mission is to grow participation in aviation to include antiques, classics, Warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, Ultralights, helicopters, and contemporary manufactured aircrafts. When you become a member of the EAA, you gain access to a platform to share the spirit of aviation with the most passionate aviation pilots, builders, restorers, and enthusiasts. The latest event was July 26th through August 1st, 2021 with over 624,000 people in attendance in Oshkosh Wisconsin. This weeklong show is the busiest gathering in the world with a frequency of 118.5.
Aircrafts such as Richard Van Grunsven Van RV-3 debuted at the EAA AirVenture show in 1972 which went on to define new ways of aircraft performance in the aviation community. Burt Rutan introduced his VariEze Canard aircraft which pioneered the use of moldless glass-reinforced plastic construction in aircrafts which was adopted by many aircrafts in years to come. The large number of aircraft arrivals and departures during the fly-in week makes the Wittman Field FAA control tower the busiest in the world for that week in number of ways. To accommodate the huge flow of aircraft around the airport and the nearby airspace, a special NOTAM is published each year, choreographing the normal and emergency procedures to follow. The next EAA AirVenture convention is July 25th- 31st, 2022.
