A Russian Defense Ministry aircraft has landed at Tajikistan’s Gissar airfield, carrying Tajik nationals evacuated from Afghanistan, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters on Wednesday. “A military transport aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry landed at the airfield of the city of Gissar in the Republic of Tajikistan, where it airlifted the country’s citizens evacuated from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.” Four military aircrafts took off from Kabul airport carrying Russian, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan citizens.
Medical and nursing teams of military doctors with the necessary medical equipment are located in each Russian military transport aircraft to provide medical assistance and support to the evacuated citizens during the flight. Putin on Tuesday vowed that Russia would not interfere in Afghanistan and that Moscow had learned from the Soviet occupation of the country. The United States, which is organizing what it calls the largest airlift in U.S. history with the help of European and Mideast allies, faces an Aug. 31 deadline to pull troops out of Afghanistan.
