- Elon Musk Owns a Fleet of Four Private Planes
- The Dassault Falcon 900B is the First Jet That Musk Ever Purchased
According to FAA records, Elon Musk owns three Gulfstream aircraft: a Gulfstream G650ER he acquired in 2016, a Gulfstream G550 he acquired in August 2020, and another Gulfstream G550 he acquired in September 2021. The first jet Musk ever purchased was a Dassault Falcon 900B, which he still owns.
The G550 was formerly Gulfstream’s most successful aircraft. In the early 2000s, Gulfstream began producing the G550, and it is no longer manufactured. According to Guardian Jet, it was last manufactured in 2021 and has a fleet size of 611 aircraft. The price of a new jet ranges from $62 million to $82 million. If purchased pre-owned, the price ranges from $31 million to $41 million for 2016 – 2020 models, the last 5 years of production, according to AircraftBluebook. The aircraft has a range of 6,750 nautical miles and a top cruising speed of 488 knots.
The G650ER is a variant of the Gulfstream G650 and is the most recent model of aircraft that Musk has purchased. The ER in the name stands for extended range. This model can travel 7,500 nautical miles without refueling. Guardian Jet describes the G650ER as, “the ultimate business jet.” The cost of a new G650ER is $75 million.
