CNN Business reports that the world’s first all-electric passenger aircraft has taken to the sky successfully.

On Tuesday, an Israeli firm named Eviation Aircraft successfully launched the Alice from Washington’s Grant County International Airport. The zero-emission airplane reached an altitude of 3,500 feet for its eight-minute inaugural flight.

Eviation says that the Alice, which is still in its prototype phase, has a range of 650 miles when flying at a cruising speed of 10,000 feet. By 2025, the company expects to have developed an FAA-approved aircraft and completed flight testing before selling Alices to consumers.
