The FIFA World Cup Fuels An Increase In Demand For Private Jets

  • Surge in Interest for Aircraft Charters

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. Qatar made history by becoming the first Middle Eastern nation to ever host the football world’s premier tournament.

If CNBC‘s estimation is correct, the Government of Qatar has spent $229 billion to host the event.

Qatar is expected to be the host of more than a million soccer fans worldwide from neighboring countries. For groups or wealthy individuals who want to avoid getting caught up in airport crowds, private aviation is a viable option given the cost of some tickets.

Charter companies in the Middle East have seen an uptick in demand for private jets during past FIFA World Cups. When Qatar was announced as the host of the 2022 tournament, there was an immediate surge in interest for aircraft charters, reaching up to two years in advance.

While some fans may be traveling from within the region, others will be coming in from much further. For instance, one popular route for those looking to get to Qatar is from London.

A one-way private jet charter from London to Doha, Qatar typically costs around $140,000. This price is for a typical long-range business jet that can seat up to 14 passengers, such as the Gulfstream G650ER.
