Aircraft loading bridge collapses at YVR, no injuries

A flight that was leaving Vancouver International Airport had one of their aircraft loading bridges collapse.

Thankfully no one was boarding the plane at the time that the loading bridge collapsed. There were no injuries involved in the accident and the bridge was completely empty when it fell apart.

“We have a team that is actively investigating the exact cause of the failure and we don’t yet have a clear cost of the damage or duration that the bridge will be out of service,” a representative from the airport in response to the incident.

YVR has since inspected each and every loading bridge and similar equipment, and has taken precautionary measures to ensure that this type of scenario does not occur again.

As of now, this specific bridge will be out of service.
