Reuters reported that Boeing plans to reduce the number of finance jobs in the United States by 150. The move is part of an effort to streamline its corporate structure and focus on manufacturing and product development.

With a history of engineering and production issues, Boeing said that in order to keep up with the high demand from the market, they increased their workforce earlier this year by 10,000 employees. Hiring has significantly ramped up in departments such as engineering and manufacturing.

After the Federal Aviation Administration raised concerns about Boeing’s planned inspection technique in May 2021, deliveries were halted. The FAA said it was looking into manufacturing problems on some 787 aircraft in September 2020.

Last month, the U.S. government approved the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner delivery since 2021.
