The United States men’s national soccer team defeated Iran 1-0 on Tuesday in their last group stage game to progress to the Round of 16 for the 2022 World Cup. They will compete against the Netherlands this Saturday.
The United States players were the first World Cup team to arrive in Qatar, 10 days before the tournament starts. The United States men’s national team (USMNT) is playing in the Finals for the first time in eight years.
On the first flight to Qatar were Aaron Long, Jesus Ferreira, DeAndre Yedlin, Sean Johnson, Cristian Roldan, Walker Zimmerman, Shaq Moore, Kellyn Acosta and Jordan Morris.
Team USA played Wales on Nov 21 to start Group B, then England on Nov 25. The game against Iran has become one of the most popular tickets in Doha because of the political rivalries between the two countries.
